Bicentennial Miner's Badge
Paul is also the author and publisher of the BICENTENNIAL MINER’S BADGE, “200 YEARS … MINERS’ SERVICE FOR U.S.A.,” used, among other things, for a distinct occasion at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Department of Mining Engineering, chosen by the Australian miner, Cedric E. Gregory, M.E., Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Mining Engineering, University of Idaho, and Visiting Professor, College of Engineering, King Abulaziz University, BEDDAH, Saudi Arabia. At the request of U.S. President Gerald R. Ford, a memorial issued by this statesman was sent to Paul and received with great surprise on New Year’s Eve, 1976, coupled with his “best wishes for a Happy New Year.” In this memorial we can read: “…As we lay the cornerstone of America’s Third Century, I commend your very special part in this great national celebration. Gerald R. Ford.” (Details about this Miner’s Badge – printed by Berg’s Christian Enterprise, Portland, Oregon, U.S.A. – were published in Frontier Times, August-September, 1976, p. 39.)
