CHALLENGING THOUGHTS ON WAR - No “Minor Issue” But a Fundamental Matter of Faith and Conscience; One of the Most Neglected Touchstones of Genuine Christianity; A Historical Document and Testimony With Excursions: Expect the Unexpected.
(Dedicated in gratitude to God, in loving memory of his good comrade, his dearly beloved wife, Ursula Paul, a courageous Christian, a real woman, and a wonderful Mama, by the grace of Jesus, “our Lord and our Saviour.”) CHALLENGING THOUGHTS ON WAR is the most extensive and provocative work ever written on this matter, or as someone familiar with the book put it: “Challenging Thoughts On War … a treasure for the mind, the most deep-touched subject ever brought so excessively to pen.” Truly, a mine of information and knowledge gained throughout many years, by the grace of God. It discloses through solid documentation the greatest religious contradiction, hypocrisy, and pious fraud under the cloak of holiness. Since for an extraordinarily long time (1,600 years) the majority of mankind, including the majority of church people and their leaders, among them world-famous preachers, have been walking in darkness, blindly misleading the masses concerning the fundamental issue of war in spite of Christ’s new order, it deserves a special treatment. What went wrong, why and when?… Hundreds of millions became victims of a false dogmatic, religious/political teaching concerning the subject of war. All the arguments of the “just war” theorists and supporters of the military war engine are refuted: clearly proven wrong and absurd. Living in the end time, it is the highest time to awake - and to avoid stumblingblocks to the noble cause of the Lord Jesus Christ, to be “faithful unto death,” to be sober and to watch, “that no man take thy crown,” as the New Testament emphasizes. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7. This Bible verse was given to the author at his confirmation by the Confessing Church in tough times during the Third Reich under Adolf Hitler. This book will challenge the conscience of all professing Christians and those of other religions or philosophies, whose teachings address the spirit of war. Those who remain aloof from this issue may discover from history their share of responsibility for belligerent actions or atrocities that, in many cases, could have been prevented, if the apathetic had risen to a moral integrity. While Christians agree (with horror), that atrocities of the past ought never have been, are we assenting to, or worse, cooperating with similar cruelties and abominations in our age through deceptive justification? (Two Monuments of Shame, which stand out in the chronicles of church history, are thoroughly dealt with). The author considers his work “a labor of love” with the desire “not to have you ignorant” about the vital matter of “war and the Christian Faith,” but to learn, to widen our horizons and improve - to “try (test) the spirits whether they are of God: Because many false prophets are gone out into the world,” as the Scripture tells us and history has proven it by overwhelming evidence. The results speak for themselves, as revealed in Challenging Thoughts on War. See also the book, A DECLARATION… (Next page.)
